About the Editor

My name is Alyssa Ortiz and I come to you with excitement for the future of The Legal Vine!
After graduating from the University of Georgia in May 2013, I decided to attend Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas. Being a 1L, I am constantly searching for a career path. With a professor's encouragement, The Legal Vine was created. It fuses together two great passions and appreciations of mine; the law and wine. I am so blessed to begin this journey, but here is a short background of me.
My hometown is Sarasota, FL. After living there for about eleven years, my family moved to Dallas, Texas, where I now call home. Even though I do consider Texas my physical home, Sarasota and Georgia are also home to me. Both places greatly influenced, and continue to influence who I am.

My appreciation for law derives from my dad. He always encouraged my brother and me to pursue our interests and worked hard to provide every opportunity to accomplish those.

My appreciation for wine can be attributed to my friends from college, and my mom and aunt. In college, not only did I receive an amazing education, but I gained the most amazing group of friends. I am almost positive it was these girls who first sparked my wine interest and enjoyment. Then, true appreciation for the art and flavor of wine came from watching, listening and drinking with my mom and aunt.
