Wine Law

Wine Law, like most other legal practices, is a multi-facet practice. Because wineries and vineyards are a functioning business, they encounter many similar legal issues as a traditional corporate business. However, because of the complexity that comes with the sales and production of alcohol in the US, they face additional complex legal issues.

Some areas of Wine Law where issues arise for vineyards and wineries:

State and Federal Beverage Licensing and Permitting

Environmental Law
Water waste management, surface water and groundwater quality, storm water discharges, etc.

Licensing and Zoning
events on premises (weddings, parties, tastings), custom-crush licensing agreements

Tax Law
IRS tax compliance specified for vineyards and wineries

Employment Law
contracts, workers's compensation, OSHA regulations, civil rights, wrongful discharge, etc.

Trademark Protection
A winery must protect its wine's name and recipe, as well as all its otherAwe products.

Building, Repair & Design
winery, irrigation, and construction installation, repair, expansion

The above list is not exclusive.
